An all-American pastime loved and cherished by many people across the nation commonly referred to as drag racing is probably one of the most intense and invigorating racing sports there is. Recently I had the opportunity to take one of the very best American muscle cars ever designed and have the opportunity to drive a Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 at a local drag strip. We arrived at the local drag racing strip around 9 PM the cars that we brought with us included: Shelby GT 500, Lotus Exige S, and the BMW 1 series. The first car to run down the track was the BMW; the BMW 1 series ran impressive 13.36 second quarter-mile. The next car to drive down the racetrack was the Lotus Exige S which ran a14.1 second quarter-mile time; the quarter-mile time on this car really is an accurate to the cars true capabilities given halfway down the tract the driver let off due to an unfortunate event which I’m about to tell you.
The 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 is one of the fastest straight-line production cars on the market currently. The Shelby GT 500 has 550 horsepower (HP) and a six speed manual transmission. The Mustang Shelby GT 500 has a 0 to 60 time of under 4.0 seconds and top speed which is limited to 160 MPH. I was given the opportunity to drive a Shelby GT 500 more specifically a 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500. I was very excited about driving to the racetrack as I couldn’t wait to see for myself what this amazing race machine was capable of doing any quarter-mile race. Upon getting to the racetrack we signed in and waited in line; many people came up to our cars were interested in our cars. Our exotic cars came from Mach 5 Cars located in central New Jersey where clients have the opportunity to drive exotic cars or drive luxury cars. It’s a very interesting idea and a great experience; exotic car rentals and luxury car rentals give people the opportunity to fill their lifelong childhood dreams of driving true super exotic cars. While we were waiting in line to run the quarter-mile racetrack I had the opportunity to speak with many other Mustang owners. Without question the Mach 5 Cars 2012 Ford Mustang Shelby GT 500 was one of the prettiest cars at the drag race that evening and potentially the fastest.
An Experience To Drive A Dream Sports Car
Eventually it was my turn to see what the 2012 Shelby GT 500 would run in the quarter-mile drag strip race. As I approach the burnout box I kicked traction control off, put the gearbox in first gear, pulled to the water spot, and did one very amazing burnout that only a true American muscle car is capable of. Next I pulled to the line, adrenaline was pumping through my veins and I could feel my heart pounding; as I saw the light countdown I placed the transmission into first gear and it seemed as if time had stopped. Anticipation, adrenaline, and excitement build my body and as the light went green I release the clutch; I was ready for the absolute perfect quarter-mile time in the 2012 Shelby GT 500. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, my inexperience in the world of drag racing caused me to release the clutch to quickly which resulted in a drive shaft failure. My “absolute perfect quarter-mile time” turned out to be infinite given I never reached the finish line but instead, was towed away while the crowd laughed at me.
If you would like to drive exotic cars for yourself and experience first-hand the wonderful world of true super cars, but are unable to afford the high price of ownership, then contact a sports car rental company as an alternative to owning exotic cars. When you rent exotic and luxury cars you have flexibility to drive a different car each week and you don’t have to pay high cost of maintenance, taxes, insurance, and depreciation fees.
